Catching Up

It's been a while since I posted last, sorry! It's hard to believe it, but Baby is 6 months old now. She's eating cereal and has had apple sauce but still gags and spits it out. We had a first on Sunday - a trip to the ER. :-( Luckily everything is okay. Baby broke out in a rash Sunday and that evening she had a 102.5 temp so I called the nurse line. She recommended I take her to the emergency room because there's a lot of stuff going around right now. Turns out it's just a harmless viral rash, and they gave her an antibiotic for pink eye. I don't think she actually had pink eye, just matter in her eyes from the virus, but in any case I got to stay home with her for 2 days! Wednesday was her 6 month check-up; she weighs 14.5 pounds, is 26 inches long and is staying right on her growth percentile. She got all of her vaccinations including a flu shot and did really well with those, only crying during the pokes. Her overall personality is easy-going, very curious, and loves listening to conversations. At her daycare they call her nosey, but really she's just interested in people and very observant. On two different occasions Bud did something to make her laugh hysterically; full, belly-bouncing, catch-your-breath laughing. I witnessed it the first time and it brought tears to my eyes! The second time B was with her and Bud and he said it was just as good as the first laughing fit.

Bud is very excited about the holiday season and loves seeing the houses decorated in lights. We're going to get a tree this weekend. This past weekend he was busy doing "projects" with Grandma T. They made some beaded snowflake ornaments, decorated gold ball ornaments with red glitter, and I helped them make a ginerbread house. He also understands "wanting" stuff now, too. We'll get a toy catalog and he'll page through and circle what he wants, or we'll see a commerical on TV and he'll say he wants that. He's very demanding, too, and we have to remind him to be patient. He'll ask for some milk and expect it in his hands within seconds and when it isn't he keeps asking over and over for it. We're also working on getting him to listen to us better. He talks all the time and hardly stops to listen to what we're saying, which causes conflict because he'll ask us something and not listen for an answer, then get upset when we haven't answered him, when really we have! His new thing this week is that he can now open doors. The past few nights he's come out of his bedroom 4 or 5 times after we've put him to bed at 8:00 and doesn't fall asleep until 9:00. Hopefully tonight he'll understand he needs to fall asleep when we put him in bed so that he can wake up early enough to feel rested and watch Disney. This morning he had trouble waking up then didn't have time for his shows because we needed to leave - he was NOT happy about that! The activities he's been enjoying the most at home are playing with Play Doh, drawing pictures, reading, watching movies and playing pretend. He's always asking us if we can do something new, too, and we have trouble coming up with new ideas! He's definitely an explorer who wants to do new and exciting things and go to new places.

Let's see, what else has happened in that past few months...
In the next week we're getting a piano! I'm very excited and it's going to be a surprise to Bud. He loves playing the piano while making up his own songs. My little composer. :-) At the beginning of November Daddy got an 8 point buck with his bow - first time bow hunting! November 8th we welcomed our new nephew born in Connecticut; Tig's little brother! Bud had a great time trick or treating with Colin and his 2nd cousins Morgan and Harrison (of course he enjoyed the candy, too).

I'll try to update a little more often!

K
