What a Comedian

We went shopping over the weekend for Bud's big boy bed sheets and he (surprise, surprise)picked out Nemo. When we got home he wanted them out of the package and played with them, making a cape, skirt, & magic rug out of the Dory & Nemo pillow case. I washed them that afternoon and put the fitted sheet and pillow case on his bed, even though it's still in the baby's room. He loves it! We watched TV that night on his bed and he said he wanted to sleep on it. We're so glad he's excited about his bed, but we're not going to let him sleep in it until it's in his room. That night when I put him to bed he said, "Thank you Mama for my Nemo bed." The next night he told his daddy the same thing. Awwww. We'll have to get a step-stool for him though because he can't climb in. :-) We're hoping to make the bed switch this weekend and I'll be sure to post pictures.

Sunday night when B was getting Bud ready for bed and brushing his teeth, they were looking in the mirror. B asked him, "Who do you think you look like?" He said, Daddy. Then he said Mama, then said, "I'm all mixed-up. I'm a mixed up comedian!" He sure is! We were bursting with laughter.

February thus far

Obviously I haven't gotten around to adding the January pictures to Bud's site...they're still in the camera and there's a little over a week left in February. Bud had a good time with Valentine's Day. We made sugar cookies for his friends and they all gave him a valentine, too. I made a steak dinner for B and I and Bud partook in some of that as well. He wondered why we were eating in the dark with a candle on the table. :-)

His new favorite game is hide-and-seek, although he doesn't quite understand the hide part. He's really good at counting to 10 and then going to find the other person, but when we tell him to hide he'll come out from his hiding place when he hears "Ready or not here I come!". I think his short attention span just doesn't allow for him to sit still and be quiet past the count of 10! But it's fun to play nonetheless and it works if one of us hides with him. He's getting the hang of the Memory card game, too, and enjoys making snowmen and cutting pictures out of Play Doh.

I don't think I mentioned yet that he has given up his booster seat for a regular chair at the dining room table. It works fine for us because now we don't have to get him in and out and belt him in, and he actually sits there through dinner. We taught him the "God is good" prayer and it didn't take him long to memorize it. And after saying The Lord's Prayer to him at bedtime for the past 24 months he has it memorized, too. Speaking of prayer, he really likes to participate in church services. When we stand, he stands up on the pew and likes to hold the bulletin or hymnal and tries to sing the songs. A few weeks ago we were at my parents' church and during the sermon the pastor said something about asking people to raise their hands if they know what their calling in life is (it was a hypothetical question, he didn't actually ask), but there was Bud with his arm raised looking right at the pastor! We were in the front so he noticed and gave a chuckle.

He's still excited about the baby sister and says he's going to help take care of her. We'll be moving the "big" bed into his room sometime in March and hopefully that will be a smooth transition.
