Last Friday night we had our friend Haeley over to play (she's exactly 4 months younger than Audrey). She is very sweet and gets along great with the kids. And today our friends Jessica, Tim, and Lauren (who Luke is going to spend the summer with) moved to town! Ben helped them move in and this evening we all went over to see them. The kids are going to have so much fun together. Audrey was loving all the toys, of course. I think she may need a full size doll house this year for her birthday. :-D Luke & Lauren were so happy to see each other and all three of them just ran around the new house and played. Saturday Audrey and I (well, mostly me) are going to help them paint a few rooms. Ben and Luke are going to the t-ball fields for a clean-up day because t-ball practice starts next week! We still need to go shopping for Luke's glove and we're going to get him a t stand to practice at home. Sunday is Lauren's birthday party at the place we call the "jungle gym." It should be very fun and exhausting for the kids and us, too, if Audrey wants us to crawl around the gym with her.
We can't believe tomorrow is the first day of April!! The kids and I planted some seeds last week to get a head start on our garden. All the seeds are in pots and seem to be doing pretty well inside but we can't wait to get them planted in the outside garden. We're looking forward to changing some of the landscaping in the front of the house, too, taking some scraggly bushes out and I have plans to put some bulbs in that will bloom this summer.
Luke has been learning about money in school, mostly pennies, nickels, dimes, and writing out the cents sign and even adding up what 1 penny and 1 nickel is, for example. He has been working really hard on his Nightmare Before Christmas "story board," a.k.a. his notebook full of his drawings of favorite scenes from the movie. He knows how to put the subtitles on the DVD player and will pause the movie to draw and write the dialog from the scene. I need to check out some of our other movies in mediums other than clay to see if they have "making of" clips so he can see how cartoons and computerized movies are made.
That's all for now and for March. Look for an e-mail soon from me with our March photo album from Google's Picasa.
